A Letter From The Founder
Welcome to The Data Gap™
The Data Gap was established to address a challenge I have seen consistently across organisations for over twenty years — the gap between data and technology ambition, and the ability to execute on it in practice.
Organisations were investing significant time, energy and resources into transformation initiatives, yet many continued to struggle with readiness, governance, confidence and decision-making.
Too often, technology became the focus rather than the outcome.
Projects moved forward without clear ownership. Data foundations were overlooked. Governance arrived too late. Technology discussions accelerated before organisations were ready. Leaders were expected to make high-impact decisions without having the confidence that the right foundations were in place. New systems and technologies exposed outdated processes, bad data, over-reliance on key individuals and much more.
With the growth of AI over recent years, this only amplifies foundational issues further. Every day there are new announcements, every conference there are new AI partnerships and integrations and seemingly more AI to add to a potential future shortlist, every time we watch news programs there is a story about AI, we go on our socials and we can’t escape AI there either - I understand this can be overwhelming.
There are organisations that don’t want to be left behind. There is growing pressure from innovative firms to scale AI beyond pilots while there are other more conservative organisations who have implemented stricter controls over AI usage. This is a fine balance that leaders must navigate. Implement readiness, governance and get foundations right for AI but doing so in a manner that doesn’t slow down progress, efficiency, innovation and results. Scale too quick and risk exposing the organisation. Move too slow and risk shadow AI running through your organisation.
One thing I do know for sure is that AI does not automatically resolve business challenges. AI built on bad foundations will amplify issues. AI with no governance or guardrails will impact stakeholders, if it hasn’t today, it will eventually.
This is why I founded The Data Gap™ - to provide Independent advisory support that helps organisations navigate data, AI and technology transformation with greater clarity, confidence and trust.
We do not implement software. We do not resell platforms. We are vendor-neutral.
Our role is to help organisations ask better questions, strengthen foundations, improve readiness and make more informed decisions.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working alongside nonprofits, universities, healthcare providers, government agencies and commercial organisations navigating complex transformation journeys.
In particular, the most rewarding work comes from supporting impact-led organisations — those delivering meaningful work across communities, services, and society — where the responsibility to use data and AI well is not only strategic, but essential.
While every organisation faces different challenges, one lesson has remained remarkably consistent:
Strong foundations create better outcomes.
That belief ultimately became the strategic narrative that underpins everything we do:
Trusted Data → Trusted AI → Trusted Decisions™
Because when organisations trust their data, they can have greater confidence in AI. When confidence improves, better decisions follow.
The future will continue to bring new technologies, new opportunities and new challenges.
My hope is that The Data Gap™ helps organisations navigate that future with confidence, practical governance and trusted foundations.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about The Data Gap™.
I look forward for the opportunity to connect.

Our Perspective
Technology Matters
Many organisations are looking to modernise and transform their environments to simplify complexity, improve digital capabilities to support better stakeholder experiences.
However, technology alone rarely delivers successful transformation outcomes.
The most successful organisations combine modern technology with:
Trusted data foundations
Appropriate governance
Clear accountability
Organisational readiness
Executive confidence
That combination creates stronger outcomes and more sustainable transformation.
